Protecting Brecks Plantation

Breck’s Plantation Nature Reserve is a 2.4ha mixed woodland in Clifton. Owned by Nottingham City Council, the reserve has been managed by Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust under licence since 1987.

The site is badly affected by litter, vandalism, arson, shooting (of wildlife) and general disturbance. Management in recent years has attempted to curb some of this anti-social activity, but success has been limited.

Despite these problems the reserve remains an important urban green space. These relatively small pockets of habitat found in urban areas are vital to wildlife survival their proximity to other similar habitats and gardens provide important wildlife corridors.
