Protection and Conservation of Mann Wood

We seek to raise £850,000 for the purchase of Mann Wood, a c.100-acre Ancient Semi-Natural Woodland. The site is situated near Chelmsford city, in Great Leighs (Grid Ref: TL736180) which we have occupied for several years under a licence agreement. We have an excellent relationship with the owner, who wants to ensure the woodland is passed onto an organisation who will preserve, protect, and enhance it in perpetuity.
The owner has offered the purchase at a significantly discounted rate. This purchase will create a long lasting legacy of ancient semi-natural woodland for the benefit of the increasing urban communities along its fringes. We will ensure long-lasting conservation stewardship of this nature haven that contains a wealth of species, natural beauty and respite from the busy world for both nature and people. Whilst protecting wildlife, the promotion of conservation values and ethics, it creates a valuable space for the delivery of social intervention programmes and environmental education.
