Protection, Maintenance and Improvement of Millennium Square, Bristol

This project is for the reimagining 5 x 35m2 raised gardens to become community food and sensory gardens with accessible seating along the west side of Millennium Square, Bristol. Each year, Millennium Square sees over 5 million in footfall, host major events, community and environmental projects and STEM learning projects. Works will include fixing crumbling limestone cladding on each of the 5 gardens which is currently causing Health and Safety and ascetic concerns; sanding, treating or replacing the 10 rotten large bench seats attached to the gardens; replacing soil and composting the gardens; planting (delivered by a food justice charity and volunteers from Incredible Edible) which will include 4 free themed food growing gardens and a sensory garden. The gardens will also have educational signage which will show how the public can use small spaces to increase biodiversity, pollinator habitats and to inspire people to grow local, affordable food
