Protection of the River Bourne at Riverside Walk, Virginian Water

This project seeks funding for repairs to the riverbank and bridge abutment protection at Riverside Walk in Virginia Water.
Riverside Walk is a popular public open space covering 52 acres alongside the River Bourne. The area provides an important habitat for a variety of animal and plant species and public access is defined along well-marked and maintained footpaths. Access to Riverside Walks is freely available at all times.
Specifically funding is sought to undertake the following works –
Removal of existing gabions and replacement with 4 galvanised steel gabions.
Re-pointing of 2 brick piers
Replacement of 6 timber struts to footbridge
Removal of tree from the River to restore flow.
