Protection of the River Thames at Runnymede Pleasure Grounds

This project seeks funding for repairs to the riverbank at Runnymede Pleasure Grounds in Surrey.
Located on the banks of the River Thames Runnymede Pleasure Ground is a popular public open space attracting thousands of visitors each year. The amenity offers a range of recreational facilities including a cafe, children’s play area and paddling pool, riverside walks and mooring for pleasure craft.
The River is an important part of the attraction and it is critical that the bank is maintained in a safe condition. Access is freely available to the public throughout the year.
Specifically funding is sought to excavate a 14 metre stretch of the riverbank and install 14 welded mesh gabions to protect the riverbank and ensure the safety of all visitors.
