Provision of Tennis Club WC Facilities, The Taynton and Tibberton Village Hall and Recreation Ground Charity, Gloucestershire

This is a project to convert a storeroom into a toilet facility with outside access for the tennis club to access when the hall is occupied or closed.

The tennis club wishes to have much more access to the courts and toilets that they have at present and have received advice that access to toilet facilities is necessary, for medical reasons. The village hall would like to develop the outside storeroom into a WC, which will be accessible all the time to the tennis club, using a code lock, without needing access to the hall itself, thus avoiding conflicts with other hirers. It will also be useful to the football clubs, who are now using the hall on Saturdays and Sundays during the football season. Luckily, the storeroom backs onto the internal bathrooms and the main electricity panel, so the work will not be too disruptive.

The tennis courts are owned by the village hall, but the agreement is that the tennis club maintains and repairs them. The club is thriving, and in addition to offering several categories of membership, including family and junior membership, also offers coaching sessions to children and adults. The tennis club wishes to play more but is restricted because the toilets in the village hall are not available when the hall is hired out, especially on weekends.
The conversion of the outside storeroom into a WC will allow tennis players, and other users, to enjoy free access. The tennis club has children in a coaching programme, and a number of senior players, all of whom require access to the WCs. The Highnam football teams (U15 boys and U15 Girls) would also benefit from this facility
Environmental considerations: The TTVH committee seeks to use environmentally materials and techniques and has a policy of employing local tradespeople and businesses.

Hard to reach considerations: The tennis club has a number of senior members, who would be especially well-served by this project. Children and young people are also members of the tennis and football clubs. One young member of the tennis club has been identified as a Wimbledon hopeful.
