Provision of Visitor Facilities – Rodanbraes and Binnend Paths

Rodanbraes Path is a most attractive path, suitable for horses, walkers and cyclists. It has been impassable but CRCT, in partnership with Rio Tinto Alcan (landowner) has opened up and improved the path Including a proposed by-pass path passing a steep section to allow disabled use. It allows a circular route of some 3 km when combined with Binnend Path. These paths connect several Core Paths. CRCT plans to make the pathways more exciting by providing picnic and rest areas, a ‘Troll Bridge’ within a children’s adventure area, Interpretation Boards to explain the volcanic (Devonian) and Ice Age topography and the industrial past. We will create Wildflower Cards to go with the Bird Book and rewrite the Pathways booklet or cards, and provide signage and publicity especially for disabled and educational use.
