Pulborough Brooks and Amberley Wild brooks coastal and floodplain grazing marsh

Pulborough and Amberley Brooks has 324ha of floodplain grazing marsh (UK BAP priority habitat). This needs constant biodiversity management to maintain and improve its condition, mainly through appropriate grazing regimes. Projects involving rill, fence, ditch and hedge creation and management, cattle handling, topping and water testing all are encompassed in developing this type of habitat. Biodiversity is improved through this work by creating appropriate water and sward levels ideal for wintering wildfowl, breeding waders, rare invertebrates and water voles (UK BAP priority species).
