Purchase of Ancient Flood Meadow and Enhancing its Biodiversity

The Trust proposes to buy a neglected flood meadow of 1.279 hectares (3.16 acres ) by the River Thame near Dorcester Abbey, and enhance its biodiversity by constructing a footpath and a pond and sowing wild flower seed. Public access would be provided through kissing gates wide enough for wheelchairs. The site would be linked by a permissive footpath to the River Thames and the Thames Trail, and also by lane to the Hurst Water Meadow and public footpath #4 The site would also be used for education of school children as part of the Trust's existing Natural England Higher - level Environment Stewardship contract.
