Purwell Meadows, Hitchin – Habitat, Access & Interpretation Improvements (2752/D)

This project is part of a wider green infrastructure (GI) project along the Purwell Valley running through eastern Hitchin. The chalk stream of the River Purwell links several important greenspaces along the valley, within the town, including Purwell Ninesprings HMWT nature reserve, Walsworth Common and Burymead Springs NHDC owned greenspaces, with Purwell Meadows Local Nature Reserve at its heart. The wider GI project aims to improve the habitat for wildlife along the valley and link these habitats to make wildlife populations more robust in the future. It also aims to get the local community closer to their local environment and wildlife, by improving access to and through the greenspaces, providing opportunities to be involved in improving their local environment through volunteering.

The Trust grant will contribute towards the habitat imporvement.
