Putting the Sheaf back into Sheffield

The river Sheaf is a national Rivers and Steams Broad Habitat. Within the local BAP it is a Rivers and Running Waters BAP habitat. The river was heavely affected by industry, pollution destroyed wildlife and weirs were built to meet the industry needs. De-industralisation and tighter environmental management have given a river clean enough to support life. The project aims to re-connect all the river by demolishing the weirs or installing fish passes and allow free movement for all the species.
