Quarry Hill Quest

This project will improve access to Quarry Hill Nature Reserve in Nelson and increase the biodiversity of the site while engaging with local residents, and encouraging their involvement in its management.
The main set of steps which take the most direct route for residents living above the reserve, have deteriorated to the stage where they are unsafe for many of the elderly residents or those unsteady on their feet. Poor drainage has added to the deterioration by washing away stone.
LWT will run community days on Quarry Hill to engage members of the local community in active management of the site, taking ownership and learning about their local environment.
