Quarry Knowe Community Garden

This proposal is to create a self-sustaining garden nursery, growing both plants and fruit and vegetables within the village of Auchinleck that will offer seasonal plants, hanging baskets and fruit/vegetables to the general public. It will operate as a social business and will generate income, but its purpose is to create jobs, improve the community, enhance learning and increase community cohesion.
This project will generate a piece of disused brownfield land in the village immediately adjacent to a newly built local authority community centre. It will create around 10 employability jobs per annum, a minimum of 10 employment work experience placements per year and open up numerous volunteering opportunities for local people, schools, community groups and so on
