Queen’s Park Arena

The project will restore for sustainable, flexible community and arts organisation use the amphitheatre and former bandstand area located in Queen’s Park, Glasgow, improving drainage form the site with associated landscape improvements, creating durable terraced seating and restoring the arena.
The project will improve the historic Paxton-designed park environment by restoring a derelict area. It will increase usage of the park by the local communities, attract visiting companies and provide opportunities for local communities, notably young people while fostering community engagement and cohesion. It should have both social and spin-off economic benefits for the Southside.
This community-led project is based on extensive public consultation and the venue will be community-owned and operated through Queen’s Park Arena Ltd on which local community councils and local people will be represented as members and at board level.
