Queensmill School’s Playground

The project consists of funding an autism specific playground for Queensmill School’s new site in Shepherds Bush. Queensmill is an outstanding local authority school based in the borough of Hammersmith and Fulham which provides for 150 severely autistic children. Having an adapted playground will allow Queensmill children to better manage their life-long condition and maximize their learning potential. Through outdoor play, the children will manage their sensory imbalances and reach the “calm state” where they can concentrate and learn: the playground will provide essential movements for autistic children: spinning, bouncing, climbing and swinging. The playground will also be open to the local community: for example, local mother and toddler groups and those providing for disabled children and children with learning difficulties.
