Quorn in Bloom Water Supply at Church View Garden

This project is for a water supply to be installed on Church View Garden, a public open space in Quorn.

Church View Garden is a much admired public garden created by the volunteers of Quorn in Bloom on a piece of previously unmanaged land on the High Street in the middle of Quorn. It is gardened to the highest standard and was an important factor in Quorn in Bloom being awarded gold (2024) and coming first in the East Midlands in Bloom competition (2023). There is very little anti-social behaviour on this site which is attributed to the high standard of maintenance.

The volunteers of Quorn in Bloom who manage the site currently have use of a water tank but the use of this alone wastes a lot of volunteer time during dry periods. Repeatedly carrying cans of water to many plants across a large garden is heavy and inefficient work, particularly for the mature ladies who are the backbone of the volunteer group. A hose run from a tap would provide a much more efficient solution to this problem of very dry periods and provide a much more reliable supply of water for the tank compared to the present arrangement of filling the tank by water bowser.
