Radcliffe Community Woodland

Radcliffe a closed landfill site, former mineral extraction site, subsequently land filled. The site is in need of remediation to unlock the potential for amenity and wildlife benefits. Site considered by the local authority as priority in terms of tackling their legacy contaminated land.
The site is surrounded by the River Irwell, a major river flowing toward Manchester. prominent in the landscape, situated beside housing and adjacent to an existing recreational park.
The project will look to create new community woodland as part of Red Rose Forest., in an area of low woodland cover and creates a valuable amenity and educational resource for the local community.
Community engagement and involvement will be a key part of the development of the project.
