RAF Defford Sergeants and Orderlies’ Quarters

n 1940 Croome Park was requisitioned by the Government from the Earl of Coventry to construct RAF Defford. The air station was central to the development of airborne radar, which was vital in helping the allies win the war. Several of the buildings have been restored to provide visitor facilities and the RAF Defford Museum to help people understand the importance of this air base.

The remaining buildings to be restored include the Sergeants and Orderlies quarters, which are in a derelict state. This project will see essential emergency repairs to be conducted to stabilise the structure and prevent any further deterioration prior to longer term work to create a new learning centre in the building.
