Ranscombe Farm Nature Reserve: Life on the Edges

The project proposes an ambitious programme to bring over 16ha of priority arable field margin habitat - including over 6000m (nearly 4 miles) of linear field margin - into a mosaic habitat management system by enhancing adjacent woodland, scrub, hedge and in-field habitat. The integration of arable field margins into a mosaic habitat management system will secure positive benefits for the field margin habitat as a whole including its farmland birds (particularly these priority species: turtle dove, yellowhammer, linnet and skylark) and for pollinating insects, especially Aculeate Hymenoptera (bees and wasps).
