Rayleigh Cricket Club

The project aims to provide a ride-on mower to replace an existing one for use at the Rayleigh Cricket Club
Due to the huge demand for cricket in the Rayleigh area the club decided in 2010 to plan for a third ground in an adjacent field owned by Rochford District Council. After gaining their consent, work commenced in the Autumn of 2011. At that time the council cut backs started to take effect and the once regular contract mowing started to diminish. The start of the mowing season in 2012 started late and the contractor’s mowers could not deal with the length of the grass. The club took over as best as they could with an aging and unreliable gang mower.
The third square is now ready for the 2013 season. The contractors continue to cut the grass intermittently but the club now have 12 acres of outfield to cut twice a week with a machine that was purchased to cut only 4 acres. The Club has committed all their funds into the third ground not foreseeing the council cutbacks.
