Re-discovering an East Cowes Woodland

‘The Wood’ is an oak copse that has been closed for 10 years and become overgrown and neglected. Until now!
We will open the public paths, grind out stumps and level the route to make safe access for all (but leave a chunk of woodland cover undisturbed for bats and badgers).
Thinning and coppicing will lighten the woodland floor and bring back wildflowers.
We will create sunny glades, put in locally made benches and provide waymarkers and information.
We will do all of this with the help of local volunteers.
