Re-introduction of water voles to WWT Arundel

WWT has worked closely with leading water vole ecologists who have confirmed that the site at WWT Arundel would be ideal for a re-introduction programme for the creatures. Until the 1980s water voles were a common site in the grounds but for reasons which remain unclear have declined drastically, not only in this area but country-wide. The re-introduction programme will be backed up by monitoring of the project which is essential work to help to develop a contemporary knowledge of water vole ecology and release methods.
