READING WITH A VIEW

Reading with a View aims to improve and regenerate the grounds around St Annes Library to create a community garden. The grounds currently lack interest and are uninviting, unworthy of the fine Grade II listed, purpose built Carnegie Library. The garden will feature a safe and comfortable area especially for the use of junior reading groups, and seating areas in which adults can enjoy conversation, reading and reflection. Tables and seating will be provided together with an open space to accommodate community events. The garden will be built with the access needs of parents with pushchairs and wheelchair users in mind. The improvements will be friendly to the environment, attractive to wildlife and sustainable, and make way for new and imaginative ways of using the space in the future.
