Rebuilding Biodiversity at Rackleaze in Cam, Dursley

We will be working with volunteers to improve a pond which is set in an adjacent wetland habitat. The pond is surrounded by a rare fragment of MG11 wet neutral grassland. Work will benefit frogs and toads as well as slow worms. It will also benefit the green woodpecker and the kingfisher and could create habitat and refuge for the water vole in times of high water. In the future it may provide pond and foraging habitat for the great crested newt.

The work is well supported locally and will allow safe access for volunteers and will demonstrate that the site is being well managed.
