Rebuilding Diversity at Sculthorpe Moor

Specific: to restore and create 2ha of reedbed / Fen Habitat both BAP priorities, by removal of 300mm of surface debris reaching water level, planting reed stems harvested in April / May from adjacent reedbed using volunteers.
Measurable; will plot on GIS total area restored / created after project completed.
Achievable: funding will pay for contractor to carry out soil removal, reserve volunteers will plant reed stems to create reed bed and help in the ongoing management plus the monitoring.
Realistic; good volunteer base to carry out work for example HLF / EU funded project capital works just completed required £127000 of in kind contributions, £108000 recorded in 18 months charging volunteer time at £50 per day.
Timescale: all capital works will be completed within the year.
