Red Moss Restoration and Enhancement Scheme

The project will enhance and restore Mossland vegetation within a site that had become degraded due to a lack of appropriate management. Capital works will remove invading scrub, block internal ditches and install sluices and dams so that water levels within the site are raised to a suficient height to support the growth of Mossland vegetation. Inappropriate past management has led to the loss of some of the characteristic species. Where appropriate, bog species will be translocated both within the site and from other sites to reduce the impoverished nature of the habitat.
