Reedbeds at Blacktoft

The RSPB’s Blacktoft Sands reserve is part of the Humber Estuary SSSI. Blacktoft forms part of the second largest tract of tidal reedbed in the UK. The project forms years 4,5 and 6 of a larger programme, constituing restoration of one of the most important reedbed sites in Europe.
This project will extend the area of reedbed under active management and will improve the site for a variety of species including the Bittern and the Bearded Tit. In addition, 32 hectares of coastal grazing marsh, another UK BAP habitat, will be restored as part of this project.
