Reedbeds for Bitterns

Amwell Nature Reserve is a former gravel pit restored to a diverse wetland reserve with regular water bird visitors including bitterns. Amwell holds important areas of reedbed, an important habitat which has seen significant decline. This project aims to extend the area of reedbed and improve its quality, providing vital habitat for a range of vulnerable species including the Bittern.
