Refurbishment of Deskford and District Community Hall

The Deskford and District Community Association has responsibility for running the ‘community hall’ which is an ex school building built in the the 1890’s and comprises of a main building plus a smaller hall/meeting room in an outbuilding. An important aspect of the planned refurbishment is our desire to become more energy efficient and reduce the level of CO2e emissions. Following advice from architects and Resource Efficient Scotland we intend to extend the insulation in the roof space and to install floor insulation in areas of the main hall. We also plan to install new double glazed windows and a roof mounted solar PV system for both buildings. The toilet area of the main hall requires total refurbishment and the provision of disabled facilities. Without refurbishment it is probable that the building will fall into disrepair and that the area will lose its only community facility.
