Projects / Refurbishment of Duck Pond, Wallace Park

Refurbishment of Duck Pond, Wallace Park

Wallace Park is used as a mixed use open space compromising sports usage, open grassland, footpaths and seating, parkland trees and an ornamental duck pond. The duck pond offers a sanctuary to ducks and a small colony of birds. However, the railings and pathways are in poor condition and the pond itself leaks and causes damage to the parkland downstream and the steps are not fit for purpose. The proposed project would include works to the pond including refurbishment to the floor of the pond to prevent the leakage, replace the existing footpath and boundary railings and stabilise the embankment. A new viewing platform will also `be installed providing users of the park with better views as well as an interpretive sign and the existing access steps will also be improved.
