Refurbishment of DY1 – Stafford Street Dudley, Dudley CVS

This is a project to refurbish and improve DY1 community hub.

This is an improvement project which will involve various enhancements aimed at increasing the overall desirability of hiring the venue and therefore significantly increasing community use. It will involve new flooring throughout, replacing halogen lighting with environmentally friendly LED lighting, refurbishing the bar to make it fit for purpose with a POS system, sound proofing the kitchen, and decorating the stage area and walls of the hall.

Dudley CVS was established in 1974 to act as an umbrella body for the community and voluntary sector in Dudley. Dudley CVS is a charitable company, whose strategic aims are to enable effective and accountable representation for the voluntary and community sector with statutory bodies, agencies, and funding organisations. It has a strong commitment to working in partnership with voluntary organisations, community groups and other relevant bodies, local and central government. It does this through connecting and inspiring people and organisations to achieve positive change, while championing their value to partners and the wider community. Dudley CVS took on the 25 year lease of the DY1 back in 2015 after it had been closed and dilapidating since 2008. Since then it has been turned into a Community Hub to help improve the lives of people living in and around Dudley.

DY1 is already a community hub for good. The proposed project will improve the facilities of the venue and the enjoyment of using it for any existing tenants or hirers. These improvements will increase the desirability to use the venue for all manner of events and therefore the organisation is confident that the number of bookings will significantly increase, meaning many more members of the community will get to enjoy what DY1 has to offer.
