Projects / Regeneration of the Meadow

Regeneration of the Meadow

As part of our continuing commitment to actively support and enhance biodiversity within the Hidden Gardens, we would like to restore the meadow area within the Gardens, making it our nominated wild corner, left undisturbed, to allow the grass and the wildflowers to create an attractive wildlife sanctuary.
Currently the meadow area of the Gardens is ‘nectar’ poor and lacking in native wildflowers appropriate to this site. With the involvement of the Hidden Gardens volunteers, we will rebuild a native wild meadow. The richness of the planting, which will include flowers such as Oxeye Daisy, Yellow Rattle, Selfheal, Vetch, White Campion and Yarrow, will greatly improve the meadow habitat, making it especially attractive to butterflies and bees. A bee habitat already exists within the site which we are keen to protect and we would also like to encourage other habitats for bees within the main gardens.
