Reintroducing pearl-bordered fritillary butterflies to Tudeley Woods RSPB Nature Reserve

This project will create habitat through woodland ride management and traditional coppicing to reintroduce pearl-bordered fritillary butterflies (UK BAP priority species) from captive bred stock and a limited number from wild captured stock (to maintain genetic diversity). Monitoring progress through surveys will run over a three year period. Coppicing has a wider benefit to other UK BAP priority species found at Tudeley Woods including dormouse, pipistrelle bat, clay fan-foot (moth), common fan-foot (moth) and white line snout (moth), as well as benefiting a whole suite of other wildlife.
