Remedial Works to Back Brook – Newton Poppleford

The bank of the Back Brook has suffered from erosion and is now threatening the footpath and community tennis courts. The project will, with the agreement of the Enviroment Agency (Licence for the work has been granted by the Environment Agency) strengthen the northern bank of the brook by first excavating a trench at the side of the brook and then placing 1 to 2 tonne boulders along the length of the trench to an approximate height of 2 metres. The area behind the boulders will be infilled with the excavated material and surfaced with quarry scalpings to form the surface of the footpath.
