Projects / Removal of Canal Bund at Stainton

Removal of Canal Bund at Stainton

The Lancaster Canal Trust is in the final stages of restoring a 200m disused length of the Lancaster Canal north (canal-wise) of the currently in-water (but remaindered) section of the canal at Stainton.

Under an agreement (currently in draft) with the Canal & River Trust (CRT) LCT will be able to connect the restored length to the currently watered length. This will require removal of an earth bund at Bridge 173 (Stainton Crossing Bridge).

The aim of this project is to carry out the removal of the bund, allowing boats to pass through to the restored section.
