Projects / Renewal of Church Hall Roof

Renewal of Church Hall Roof

The church hall was built in 1904 so is 114 years old. Parts of its roof have been repaired at various times, but it is now considered to be life expired. Significant leaks have occurred causing health and safety issues, and damage to the fabric of the building.

We intend to replace the main roof above the structural timbers, which will be checked and replaced as necessary. Glendyne Canadian natural slate will be used, and breathable felt fitted. Treated battens will be fitted to all rafters, and main roof ridge tiles installed. Ubiflex lead substitute will be used for flashing to all abutment walls, and roof valleys and dormer sides renewed. The flat roof areas and upstands will be recovered, and all guttering checked and renewed if necessary.

Care will be taken to preserve the nesting site of our colony of swifts, and the new roof will ensure the preservation of the fabric and contents of the building for many years to come.
