Renovation of the External Walls of a Village Hall

Peter Tavy Village Hall was built in the 1860s as a school which closed in 1960. It was given to the village for use as a community hall and is governed by a trust deed. Three of the external walls are rendered with sand and cement many years ago to deal with a problem of damp penetration. This render has now become detached from the walls and damp is again a problem which is affecting the internal decoration. We intend to remove the render and re- point the exposed stone with lime mortar. The pointing on the fourth wall which was not rendered will be raked out and the wall re- pointed. Intenal re- decoration will then take place.
