Repair of Outside and Elevation of Llay Miners’ Grade II Listed Building, Llay Miners Welfare, Llay, Wrexham

This is a project to repair problems found during the last part of a refurbishment of Llay Miners Welfare (known locally as ‘The Welfare’ or ‘Llay Miners’). The work will secure the building for many years to come and will allow it to continue being used as a community facility. The grant applied for will help to renovate the west end elevation of this large and imposing Grade II listed building. The works will include: (i) restoration of the crumbling balustrade; (ii) refurbishment of rotten window frames and rusted windows; (iii) re-rendering where required; (iv) complete repainting of the elevation. The programme is needed to enhance and make safe the end elevation in keeping with the rest of the building.
