Replace St James Church Community Hall Roof, St James Church and Community Hall, Rounds Green, Oldbury, West Midlands

This project is for a replacement roof for the community hall which has three leaks coming through the ceiling, with a real possibility of more to come.

The hall is regularly used by several local community organisations. This has come about due to procuring significant funding in the past to improve the facility, which ten years ago was in a very poor state of repair. In that time, through generous grants, the following has been achieved:
• Replacement of four very large, old and draughty windows with modern PVC double glazed ones
• Replacement of the interior ceiling and up to date efficient lighting for the area
• Regular redecoration of the entire space, paid for by the church congregation
• Replacement of the three heaters with more efficient ones.
• Replacement of all the furniture.
This has all resulted in increased use of the facility by local organisations regularly, as well as many ‘one off’ party events. The council have also hired the premises. Leaks to the interior from a roof which is constantly leaking during rainy weather is detrimental to those groups continuing to use the facility, as well as defacing the décor. The hall already has LED energy efficient lighting, fully double-glazed windows, and thermostatically controlled heaters. Should the funding bid be successful the church would be looking to use a local firm to complete the works.
