Projects / Replacement of Practice Nets

Replacement of Practice Nets

This is a project to replace the practice nets at West Bergholt Cricket Club.

The training nets are used by over 300 local people. They are dilapidated and need replacement for health and safety reasons, and to improve the quality of facilities on offer to the community adhering to England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) standards. Offering these facilities will mean people can play sport in the village and reduce the need to travel.

The new practice nets will enable members and visiting teams to use the facilities safely. The current artificial grass areas are worn and uneven, which causes the bounce of the ball to be unpredictable and dangerous. The netting is not of sufficient length and due to its age, holes in the net provide a risk to the users. An ECB approved practice facility will enable the club to provide a safe and welcoming environment to work with the expanding colts and adult groups, to provide coaching that creates an ongoing love of the game.
