Replacement of Roof

The facilities are used by sea cadets and other youth groups. A community café also operates from the building weekly, supporting those living in poverty. Over the years the roof has been patch repaired and internally the toilets have been unchanged since construction in the 1980’s. Additionally, due to the leaking roof the wooden parquet flooring has been damaged and is lifting. This has led some areas being taped off as unusable; some rooms have had to be closed.The state of the building internally means that it is currently unsuitable for hire to wider groups for safety, health and hygiene reasons. Biffa Award has been approached to fully fund the installation of a new roof, to replace the toilets and install new flooring. The applicant will fund the purchase of the Biffa Award plaque, install new showers and carry out internal decorating.The refurbishment of this facility will allow the local community access to a building, situated locally, rather than having to travel four miles to access groups.
