Replacing Swantail Hide (Wheldrake Ings) at Lower Derwent Valley NNR

The project will enable more people to come and experience the wonderful wildlife spectacle of Wheldrake Ings, part of the vast Lower Derwent Valley National Nature Reserve just outside York. It will rejuvenate and modernise the visitor and volunteer facilities of this beautiful floodplain, creating an overlook befitting such a special area. The result will be a National Nature Reserve that the City of York can share and be proud of. The project will inspire visitors, engage them with wildlife and the environment and enrich their visit, by replacing the outdated Swantail Hide with a contemporary structure with an all round vista.
