Rescuing Rocks and Overgrown Relics

Habitat restoration and enhancement of six former quarries, mines, rock outcrop and scree in Stiperstones & Corndon Hill Country. The project proposal is focussed on work to restore three key UKBAP habitats, all of which are currently under-represented in the biodiversity action planning process within Shropshire, and which together provide ecological niches to a variety of rare or notable flora and fauna. These are: ‘Inland Rock Outcrop and Scree’, ‘Calaminarian Grassland’ and ‘Open Mosaic Habitats on Previously Developed Land’. There will be additional benefits to UKBAP habitats ‘Broadleaved, Mixed and Yew Woodland’, ‘Lowland Dry Acid Grassland’ and ‘Ponds’.
