Restoration & Conservation of Roman Wall

Rochester’s city walls are among its most iconic features, although they are probably less regarded and understood than the cathedral and the castle. We are seeking help to conserve and repair an outstanding and unique Roman Wall. It is of national importance, but is at severe risk and has suffered partial collapse along some of the oldest parts of the wall. Its current condition is vulnerable to further deterioration unless significant repair and conservation is carried out. The work will be carried out by qualified Stone Masons, overseen by the Cathedral Archaeologist and the Head of Conservation from Canterbury Cathedral.
