Restoration of Frays Farm Meadows

Restoration of a nationally important example of ancient riverside meadows, including ditch clearance, sluce and culvert installation, hedge restoration, willow pollarding and installation of interpretation boards. Aim is to enhance and safe guard the habitat value of one of the last surviving wet alluvial meadow complexes within the M25 with significant benefits to both flora and fauna. If the proposed works are not carried out, the long running decline of the site will continue as drianage ditches deteriorate with the consequent breakdown of the hydrological balance of the site and the permanent loss of important species. In addition to the tremendousvariety of grassess, sedges and wild flowers it is important for birds and the nationally declining water vole.
