Restoration of Moat Brae House

This application is for assistance with the completion of ‘Phase A’ restoration work on Moat Brae, a ‘B’ listed Georgian villa designed and constructed by Walter Newall in 1823 in Dumfries. The house has an historic association with JM Barrie who played games of fantasy in the adjacent landscaped gardens while a schoolboy at nearby Dumfries Academy in the 1870s and is therefore regarded as the ‘Birthplace of Peter Pan’.
