Projects / Restoration of Myton Pool

Restoration of Myton Pool

The project is to restore Myton Pool, which was originally built in the mid/late 1800’s as an ornamental pool to Myton Grange. With the demolition of the House the Pool has become the centrepiece of a small wildlife area bordered by the River Avon, Council Playing Fields and a housing estate. Currently the Pool almost dries out in hot summers with blue green algae forming. The water has become shallow and eutorphic and the silt is contaminated with heavy metals and Japanese Knotweed. The project is to desilt the pool and to plant a reed bed and other aquatic plants to protect the currrent inhabitants and to increase the natural biodiversity of the Pool and surrounding area.
