Restoration of the Bells of St Lawrence, Barnwood

The 5 old bells, cast by Abraham Rudhall in Gloucester in 1698, are to be welded by Soundweld (Specialist Welders) to fill in deep indentations made by the clappers in the last hundred years and fill bolt holes in their crowns. The bells are then to be re-hung on new roller bearings by Whites of Appleton (Bell Hangers). A new trapdoor is also required to take the bells out of the tower as the organ pipes were put in place after the last work on the bell and take up a third of the original trapdoor space.
