Restore the Moor – Bedfordshire’s most important wetland area

Restore the Moor will enhance the condition of wetland habitat at Flitwick Moor SSSI a wet woodland, valley mire, fen and meadow site, supporting nationally rare examples of invertebrates, fungi, lichens and mosses. This project will repair drainage channels which criss-cross the moor, allowing us to manage water levels for the benefit of the wildlife on site. This project will create new wet habitat, encouraging species to colonise new areas. In the woodland, we will control invasive species which threaten delicate woodland flora. Wet fen meadow areas will be managed to create the ideal conditions for wild flowers to flourish.
