Restoring Biodiversity through the HELIX

The HELIX is a holistic urban regeneration, leisure and arts project that will link the commuities of Falkirk and Grangemouth, becoming a Living Landmark for Scotland and a significant visitor destination. Our project will develop existing habitats to enhance their environmental carring capacity and contribution to biodiversity, and develop important new habitats. Key UK BAP species and habitats that will benefit from this work to extend their range include:
Birds; Skylark, tree pipit, linnet, yellowhammer, grey partridge, reed bunting, house sparrow, willow tit, marsh tit, bullfinch, starling, song thrush.
Mammals; otter, water vole, pipistrelle bat
Habitats; reedbed, lowland meadow, hedgerows, wet woodland.
